Our mission is clear: to illuminate the path of success for the next generation.
By empowering students with the tools to pursue their goals, we help them cultivate experiences and skills that will transform them into the independent, successful adults you know they can become.
These tools help students develop the fundamental skills needed for academic success, such as time management, goal setting, and effective study habits.
These tools focus on enhancing the student's interpersonal and problem-solving skills, which are crucial for both personal and professional success.
These tools empower students to develop self-discipline, manage stress, and achieve their full potential.
“I’ve tried to teach my child these same principles, but they just don’t seem to listen.”
And you’re not alone.
Many of us, as teens, ignored our parents’ advice only to have the same message resonate later when delivered by a respected coach or mentor.
This is where LumenTrek steps in.
We provide the same principles and insights you’ve likely shared, but as an external source, we can often reach students in a way that clicks, encouraging them to take action.
"As the founder of LumenTrek, I understand firsthand the journey many students are on. Having set ambitious goals only to come up short or having put in effort only to underperform, I know there are key insights and skills that can make all the difference in a young person’s success.
Growing up in a small town north of Seattle, WA, I was heavily involved in athletics, eventually graduating from Whitworth University in Spokane, WA. After college, I continued my basketball career, playing across Europe and ultimately retiring after a season in Malta. My upbringing was stable, and my family, while middle class, supported me in ways typical of many families. With an athletic background—even my mother played Division I volleyball at the University of Oregon—I had strong support.
Yet, looking back, one critical piece was missing: knowledge.
I hadn’t fully grasped that improvement requires effort outside of practice, or learned efficient study skills that could have helped me maximize my academic potential.
I firmly believe these foundational skills greatly influence a student’s long-term success and overall life trajectory.
When you play at a Division 3 school, the rules and time with the team is very different from D1 and D2. The majority of the time outside of preseason and in the season, each player is responsible for doing their own workouts, getting in their own shots and honing and crafting their own skills. Since there are no coaches involved during these times the ability to be self disciplined and self motivated is paramount, and those who can usually rise to the top of the competition.
While in my college and professional career I was always motivated, but one common comment I heard from my teammates and coaches was how disciplined I was with my workouts and how consistent I was.
To this day, every skill and tool I learned in my playing career helps me in my everyday life.
Time management, importance of diet and sleep, minimal distractions while working, importance of volunteering and giving back. All of these tools and more still guide my every step and have helped me become the man that I am today, and all that I’ve accomplished.
Now my hope is to give these tools to your children now, so that they have a better trajectory and a greater chance of success to achieve their dreams than I had."
